The winner of Sanda World Cup Champion 2015: The First Man Standing from Indonesia

Who says Indonesia has no something to be proud?

Yusuf Widiyanto, a young athlete man from Semarang, is the first athlete man from Indonesia who successfully got a gold medal from Sanda World Cup Champion 2015. He got a gold medal after he defeated Van Bau To, an athlete from Vietnam, in the final round. A competition followed by 75 countries from around the world was held in Istora Gelora Bung Karno, November 18, 2015.

Three months before the competition day, he was trained in Semarang by a special coach from China. After he was selected to be a representative of wushu athlete, he was sent to Medan and trained with a special coach again from China for a two-week short training.

“I was surprised at that time” he said.
Surprised was the first reaction after the referee lifted his hand.
Actually, I did not expect to be the winner because I know that it was the biggest competition that I ever joined”.
The competition was the first senior international wushu competition for him. Although he has joined junior international wushu competition twice, he still felt nervous at that time.

Yusuf succeed to reverse the situation when he played with Vietnam in the final round. He almost failed in the first round, but in the second round he could reverse the situation and steal a lot of point. Besides, the rival felt tired so it became a big chance for Yusuf.
“My coach records all of the matches of countries which joined the competition and showed me the weakness from each participant. Therefore, while I was playing with Vietnam, I could observe my rival’s movements and I knew exactly when I should attack and when I should keep quiet” he said.

This competition is very important for him.
“I always thought about my countries during the match” he said.
The competition was held in Indonesia, so it made him become more spintful to be the winner. He only focused on the competition and wanted Indonesia to be the winner. He wanted to sing Indonesia Raya song in front of people coming from many countries when he could win, and it happened. He was the winner and stood proudly in the middle stage with a gold medal.
“I moved and felt that I wanted to cry. Proudly seen by many people from around the world, I stood and sang Indonesia Raya song. It was the most memorable moment in my life and I hoped that I could feel another big moment in future” he said.

It was not easy for Yusuf to get gold medal. He always tried hard and practiced for that competition. He often failed, but he wanted to get up and try again.
“To be the winner, you have to practice, try hard and never give up. That is the success key for you. If you fail, you have to stand up and try again. Therefore, if someday you become the winner, you will feel a moment that can satisfy your failure in the past” he suggested.
He hopes that there will be many young people that can make proud for Indonesia.
‘’Fighting!!!” he said as we end this interview.

PLAGIARISM IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Saras Restuningtyas

Plagiarism and thief: It's just the same!

Kokemuller (2016) stated that plagiarism is an activity using someone's work or writing and using it as your own word without permission. Plagiarism has not become a commonplace at this time. The simple way of plagiarism makes students often do it. They still do plagiarism because they do not know what will happen when lecturer and university know about their bad behavior.

Osman & Rachman found a fact that Indonesia has broken rules and needs to fix it, as Deputy Minister for National Education, Fasli Jalal said in the interview about plagiarism in academic world. The most important thing when we learn in academic is honesty. If there is something like plagiarism in the academic world, there will be zero tolerance. So, schools might need to consider their policies about plagiarism again to prevent plagiarism in Indonesia.

First, plagiarism gives failure for the students. Certainly, every school has policies. All of students who violate the policies will be punished according to what they have done. As well as plagiarism, schools will give the punishment to the students who plagiarize someone's work. Whether students just do it in the small assignments or even they do it for their thesis, they all will be punished because plagiarism is just the same as stealing other people's copyright. If students do plagiarism in the small assignments, they will get zero for their assignments. As a result, of course, they will not pass the course. It is the beginning of their failure.

Second, it does not give the impact for students only but also gives the bad impact for university. Plagiarism in the school shows that lecturer does not teach the students well. It means the teacher does not try to explain more about plagiarism, how to prevent plagiarism and the impact of plagiarism. Therefore students still do not have an understanding of what plagiarism is and why they must avoid it. If many students in the school do plagiarism continuously, it will decrease the quality of school's degree. It also gives the impact to all students who study in that school. They can not find a job easily because of the decreasing quality of their school. Companies will assess that the school is not good because of some students who do plagiarism.

The last is depriving the purpose of learning the process. Basically, schools teach students to think creatively. Creativity, which is the opposite of plagiarism, is someone's ability to develop or produce something different and pure (Kokemuller, 2016). The simple way of plagiarism will make students continuously do the same thing. Plagiarism will make students lack of knowledge and can not think creatively. It will give the future impact for the students who do plagiarism. After graduate, of course, they will find a job. If students always "copy and paste" someone's work, are they able to do it in the future? Schools and workplaces are totally different. Students can not do it in workplaces because the most important thing when you work is independent. Being independent means you should work by yourself. Sometimes we need someone to help us, but it is not always right.

In Indonesia, students still do plagiarism in higher education. They still do not know whether it is plagiarism or summary. So, with those three statements that I have explained, hopefully, students will more understand about the effects of plagiarism and they will think twice to do plagiarism. If they want to use someone's word, at least they should paraphrase the word. Do not just "copy-paste" someone's word in your paper if you do not want to be called as a thief. In this case, the role of the school is important to mitigate plagiarism in higher education.

Weblogs for Use with ESL Classes

Campbell (2007) stated that a weblog is an online journal that people can express their own word, ideas and thoughts by themselves. The writing can be published on internet quckly just by type and click of a button. Based on Winer & Blood, Campbell stated that weblog is already exist in the beginning of world wide, but the 'blogging software'-self just available in July of 1999. Since the users of blog become considerable, now we can research the usefulness of weblog, without exception the usefulness in ESL classroom. There are three types of weblog that can be used in ESL classroom. First,  the tutor blog. This kind of blog is held by the tutor for learners. It can help students to read and explore all about English, make students become more active with asking them to post a comment, provide class or syllabus information that students can see it easily, and provide a resource of links to make students learn by themselves. Second is the class blog. This blog can be produced by working together of a whole class. It can be the media for students to discuss about classroom discussion topics and communicate with the people from other countries. It can also be a facilitation for students to make some projects in language learning. The last type is weblog software. There are several choices in this time to find the best weblog software. One problem to consider is whether it has installed or not. It strongly recommended for teachers who don't know or support about technic to choose the installed one. The second problem that should also be considered is cost. Tere are several companies offered free blogging software. So, observe and think carefully to choose the best weblog software that you need. That's all the three types of weblog. By mentioning it, hope other practitioners can think again that weblog is very useful to support classroom based ESL learning.

Kopeng is a nice place to stay especially for travelers who like nature. First, the place is in the foot of Merbabu mountain. People can enjoy the fresh air from that place. Second, Kopeng has a place name Umbul Songo. Umbul Songo is a place where you can see a beautiful waterfall and dense pine forest. Also, it is a good place to adventurers who like to climb a mountain. Kopeng has two Merbabu hiking trails, such as Tekelan and Cuntel. I recommended you to pass it via Tekelan because the view is very good. Moreover, if you are strawberry lovers, Kopeng is the best place to visit for you. There are many strawberry gardens and you can pick the strawberry whatever you want. In addition, you can stay in the mini hotels around Kopeng. The hotels are comfortable and cheap.

Greetings

Hi everyone.

Welcome to my blog :)

This time, I would like to introduce my self. My name is Saras and most of people will say Saras 008 after I introduce my self. I was born in Salatiga on January 2, 1998. I graduated from Vocational School 1 of Salatiga and took Marketing as my major, but now I take English Education Program in Satya Wacana Christian University. Of course it is far away from my major when I was in vocational high school.

Since I learn in English Education Program, the most challenging class is writing class. Why? Because I have a problem with my grammar and I can't use a proper word. If it is writing class, of course the activities in the class is always write, write and write. In the previous writing class, the lecturer asked me to make a biography from famous person and find articles of the person from internet. It was little bit tiring me because we should paraphrase and summarize the articles that we got and made it into our own articles. My paper was full of scratches at that time although I have tried my best to do the assignments.

In this semester, I take writing for the media. I expect that this semester will be more difficult than previous semester, but I will work hard to prove that I can write properly. I have taken Intermadiate Grammar and the grade was perfect, so I can be more confidence to do any assignments. Hope I can get more knowledges and experiences from the lecturer after I finish this course.
